Building Update:
Due to the recent building closure, our school day has been extended by 28 minutes. This means starting March 24th we will be dismissing students at 3:48 pm. We will follow our typical procedures. Please go to your student(s) assigned door for pick up students. Bus students will dismiss out the front door. Special education students who dismiss out the front door can be dismissed between 3:35-3:45
Attendance Update:
Globe Park needs your help. We currently have 181 students who are chronically absent. This equates to 34% of our students. As many of you may not know, our school report card (as provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education) is greatly impacted by attendance rates. We are currently a 1 please help us in raising our report card to a 2.
We ask that students come to school everyday on time. We understand that many times students tell us they do not feel well. However, if they do not have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea please send them to school. Please help us reach our goals of Every Day, Every Student.
Survey Works:
We have had a total of 236 Family Responses. Please remember to fill out a survey for every student. We are offering whole class rewards of pizza or popcorn parties. We want to hear from you!
Morning Drop Off
As many of you know. I have been outside on Avenue A moving traffic along. We can not park on the street for drop off. Please pull on to the lot. When we park on both sides of the street, the buses can not get through. We are lucky, in that we open the doors 15 minutes prior to the start of the school day. We also unload several cars at a time. Please help us be good neighbors, refrain from stopping/parking on Avenue A
Afternoon Pick Up
As of March 24th our hours of operation will include a 28 minute extension. Students will dismiss at 3:48 pm. All our after school programs will continue as normal. We ask all students that participate in CCF stay in their programs until 5:00.
RICAS Update:
All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take the RICAS (ELA) test. The Woonsocket Education Department has selected testing dates for the week of March 31 - April 4th. Globe Park students will test session 1 on April 1st and session 2 on April 2nd. We need family support for the following:
- Students should arrive to school at 9:00 (parent drop off/walkers)
- Students should get a good night’s sleep
- Please refrain from scheduling doctor appointments during testing
- Please give students words of encouragement/notes of encouragement for testing
