Do You Need A Work Permit?
If you are a Woonsocket youth aged 14-17, Youth Work Permits can now be completed at your school building during school hours. This should make the process much easier and more time efficient. Please follow the steps below to ensure it is completed properly. If you have questions regarding this process, please reach out to your Middle/High School Secretary or Guidance Department, or the Woonsocket Education Department Administration Office, 401-767-4600.
(Please note - Work Permits are no longer issued at the McFee Administration Building. You will be redirected to the middle/high schools. There is staff present year round to assist you.)
WED Students: Bring one of the above completed forms signed by both your parent and your prospective employer to your school's guidance department. You will be issued a Work Permit to return to your supervisor for your employee file. If you change jobs, you will need to repeat this process for each new job held. A work permit is only valid for the position/job site for which you applied, or until you turn 18.
Non-WED Students: Bring the appropriate completed form (linked above) signed by both your parent and your prospective employee, along with documentation showing your Date of Birth (Birth Certificate, Driver’s License/Permit, Passport, etc.) to Hamlet or Villa Nova Middle School OR Woonsocket High School. You must be present for a permit to be issued. We cannot issue a permit to a parent as it must be signed by the youth.
