The WACTC Health Careers students explore various career paths while at the same time learning anatomy, physiology, CPR and first aid, medical terminology and patient care. The WACTC program combines scientific and skill-based knowledge with the fine art of patient care, providing this dynamic industry with the professionals needed.
Qualified graduates will receive college credits. ​

Student & Parent, why does the Career Tree matter to you?

1. The first set of branches is the Entry-Level Careers that students unlock by completing the Health Careers program at WACTC. 
2. Students can unlock the next level, the Technical Careers, by pursuing additional education such as an associate’s degree, advanced certification, apprenticeship, or other specialized training.
3. They push their education even further with a bachelor’s, master’s, Ph.D., or specialized training, they can unlock the Professional Careers.

What Registered Nurses Do

Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions.

Work Environment

Registered nurses work in hospitals, physicians’ offices, home healthcare services, and nursing care facilities. Others work in outpatient clinics and schools, or serve in the military.

How to Become a Registered Nurse

Registered nurses usually take one of three education paths: a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN), an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), or a diploma from an approved nursing program. Registered nurses must be licensed.

The median annual wage for registered nurses was $71,730 in May 2018.
