PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Travel/Tourism Academy prepares students for a career in the many facets of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. Extensive preparation in computer applications, desktop publishing, economics, travel geography, and travel english are built into the program.  Students enjoy many field trips and guest speakers.  One of the unique features of the Travel/Tourism Academy is a paid internship which is available to qualified students.



FACILITIES:
The Travel/Tourism lab features a full compliment of business, travel, and tourism software in a modern computer lab.  The lab is designed as an office enviroment and is equipped with complete Internet access to support research.

CURRENT HAPPENINGS:

Travel/Tourism students are currently planning a trip to Washington, DC in April.  As part of this planning, each student prepared a Powerpoint presentation, along with a brochure and report. Field trips to Newport, Boston, Conway Tours, etc., along with guest speakers from colleges, travel agencies, caterers, park rangers, etc. are part of the program.

FUTURE HAPPENINGS:
Many field trips are planned to sites both locally and outside of the area.  Trips to various tourism sites, shadowing opportunities at local businesses, and internships also make up the program.

CERTIFICATE OPTIONS:
The Travel/Tourism Academy is fully certified by the National Academy Foundation and offers a certificate from NAF.  An agreement is also in place with Johnson & Wales University.
