Family Book Club

Who can join the club?

Any student enrolled in Woonsocket Middle School may attend the evening meetings provided that he or she has read the book to be discussed and comes with an adult who also has read the book.

Where and when will the meetings be held?

The WMS Family Book Club meets once a month on Mondays. The next meeting will be on Monday, May 19, 2008. We will be reading Double Identity by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Join us to discuss this thriller!

What types of books will be read?

The books selected for this year will be current, award-winning fiction written with the middle school student in mind.

Will there be any homework?

There will be no homework, but students and adults will be asked to write their thoughts about the book while they are reading; a journal will be provided. Family members are encouraged to discuss the books at home.

How will members obtain copies of the selected books?

Members will be able to borrow copies of the books from the school library or the public library. Any member wishing to purchase a copy of the book may order it through the Scholastic Book Club or at most bookstores.

May we join at any time during the year?

New members are always welcome to join the group at any time during the school year.

Who can we contact for more information?

Please call Mrs. Malbon or Mrs. Lavallee in the WMS Library. The telephone number is 767-4782.
